We had fun reading 5 Funny Frights today when the electricity went out for about 30 minutes.  Also our pep-rally had been canceled for today and the game has been moved to 6 o’clock tonight in Harmony.  Remember that next week is our Red Ribbon Week.  Monday – Wear red to support drug awareness.  Tuesday – Look to the future!  Wear your favorite college or WO t-shirt.  Wednesday – Keep your head on straight!  Don’t do drugs!  Wear hats!  Thursday – Peace and hugs instead of drugs!  Wear tie dye and bring a stuffed animal.  Friday – Spook out dugs!  Ware halloween costumes – must be dress code appropriate.  Hope you all great a safe and restful weekend!

Please continue to work with your child on their doubles 1-11.  We have begun working with coins.  Counting loose mixed coins with your child is a great way to help them. Since this is a short week, we will have spelling test on Friday instead of Thursday.  Your child’s words are written in their planner.  In writing, we are still working on what we did over the summer.  We are adding sensational words and making sure our sentences start with a capital and end with punctuation.  This has been a fun, fast week!  Remember the Monster Truck Rally is Saturday.  I hope to see you there:)

September is here and your 2nd graders are extremely busy!!!  We are learning to stretch our sentences by writing with our senses.  Using our sensational describing words to make our writings more interesting.  Your child is writing about what they did this summer adding what they saw, heard, felt, smelled and tasted.  These should be some very interesting stories!

In spelling, we are working on our 60 no excuse words and short vowel words.  Your child should have them written in their planner.  They are:  drum, rock, list, desk, job, sad, chop, sack, tag, rib, mess, dust.  We have a spelling test every Thursday.

For math, we are working on our doubles 1-11, and our doubles plus 1.  Please help your child memorize their doubles.

Thank you for making sure your child gets plenty of rest and they are on time and ready to work each day.  We appreciate you!

Meet the teacher

Meet the teacher is Thursday, August 20, from 4 to 5.  This is a time when your child can bring their supplies and see their classroom.  Please remember to bring $10 cash for the planner and party money.  I can’t wait to meet all of my new 2nd graders!

Do you want to know who won our pbl project? Project based learning is what pbl means. So lets move on to who won. Well we will tell you. Alex, Braeden, Ely and Alyssa’s movie trailer was the winner in our class. Alyssa is the filmer. They will get to go to the White Oak city hall on Tuesday, May 12 at 5:00 pm. We are all so proud of all our projects!!! We hope that White Oak will start curb side recycling because of all the work that 2nd grade has done and because it will be good for our environment! Also, Wednesday May 13th is our class pictures. Today is wonderful, wow, Wednesday.
