9-9-15 By Mrs. Corbell

Please continue to work with your child on their doubles 1-11.  We have begun working with coins.  Counting loose mixed coins with your child is a great way to help them. Since this is a short week, we will have spelling test on Friday instead of Thursday.  Your child’s words are written in their planner.  In writing, we are still working on what we did over the summer.  We are adding sensational words and making sure our sentences start with a capital and end with punctuation.  This has been a fun, fast week!  Remember the Monster Truck Rally is Saturday.  I hope to see you there:)

September is here and your 2nd graders are extremely busy!!!  We are learning to stretch our sentences by writing with our senses.  Using our sensational describing words to make our writings more interesting.  Your child is writing about what they did this summer adding what they saw, heard, felt, smelled and tasted.  These should be some very interesting stories!

In spelling, we are working on our 60 no excuse words and short vowel words.  Your child should have them written in their planner.  They are:  drum, rock, list, desk, job, sad, chop, sack, tag, rib, mess, dust.  We have a spelling test every Thursday.

For math, we are working on our doubles 1-11, and our doubles plus 1.  Please help your child memorize their doubles.

Thank you for making sure your child gets plenty of rest and they are on time and ready to work each day.  We appreciate you!
